We will take a stretch of track used by drivers of the Dakar Rally that crosses many of the lost towns of the desert until we arrive at the Mharech Gorge; one of the most beautiful places and at the same time the most simple of all in the desert of Morocco, its beauty is so simple that it makes it immense. This stunning and beautiful gorge with its small oasis of Palms in their interior joins tracks from the north to the south.
Today we will continue along the Dakar Rally crossing more solitary villages and crossing dry river beds, this stage of the track is the hardest but also the most beautiful, we will ride one of the most famous and difficult tracks that were used in the old Dakar Rally, visiting villages and nomads of the desert.
Alternating between rocky tracks and sand dunes our authentic adventure passes by the oasis and the dunes of Ouzina, following more tracks until we will arrive in Khamlia; a village situated in the shadow of the dunes and inhabited by a mixture of Berbers, Arabs and different tribes of sub-Saharan origin, although the majority of the tribe are the bambaras or gnawas, where we will be able to enjoy its amazing folkloric music taking a glass of tea. Our journey continues across the highest dunes of Morocco until you arrive at the Lodge where we will spend the night.
Today we will do a stage where we will cross another one of the tracks that they use in the “Rally Paris-Dakar”. We will cross incredible landscapes arriving at the most needy villages and away from the tourist routes, we will know the desert of Erg Chebbi in its purest state, its sea of dunes and an endless number of impressive landscapes.
After lunch we will be waiting for the dromedaries to enter the desert of dunes, a dream that many travellers always want to have in the desert, the pleasure of being able to sleep in a haima under a sky full of stars, discover for yourself what the silence of the desert is, watch the sunset and sunrise, listen to the drums after dinner and listen to the desert breeze at night in between dunes and in the middle of nowhere. Dinner and accommodation in unforgettable haima.
We get up early to see the magic hour of dawn where the colours of the sky over the dunes are changing little by little with the rising of the sun and which will captivate us each minute. We return with the camels to our hostel where after breakfast we will continue our tour to Rissani where we stop to visit the bustling market where there is a special parking area to leave the donkeys that carry the villagers products such as crafts, food, animals etc. to sell in the market; a sight that amazes all the travellers and tourists that pass through this city.
Our adventure continues in the direction of Erfoud; one of the charms of these small villages we pass is their tranquility, we will also have the possibility of making a visit in the factory of fossils. Our route takes us toward the Palm Grove of Tafilalet which is considered the largest palm grove in the world; with about 800,000 date palms, is the last great oasis before arriving to the desert and the vast expanses of sand from the Sahara. During our route we will make a stop in the Todra Gorges where we will spend the night.
Today leaving behind our backs the Gorges, we will be amazed by the Valley of Roses where its inhabitants cultivate small plots of the botanical species Rosa Damascena in a landscape worthy of admiration because of its contrast of colours. Next stop will be the Palm Grove of Skoura with more than 700,000 palm trees; this place stands out as an important enclave of greenery and the large concentration of kasbahs that are scattered all over the oasis and its surroundings.
